Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis Found Guilty of 1996 Murder of Tupac Shakur

Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis has been found guilty for orchetrating the murder of Tupac Shakur, the first conviction in a hip-hop cold case that took on a life of its own over the last 30 years.

Shakur was shot four times after a fight between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon in Las Vegas in September 1996. The guilty conviction was rendered almost thirty years to the day of Shakur’s death.

Following a two-week trial, the jury debated for three hours before finding the 63-year-old guilty of murder with a deadly weapon. He could be sentenced to life in jail, reports CNN.

For years, no one had been taken into custody for the Las Vegas murder of Shakur, who was shot on September 7, 1996, and died six days later, despite countless leads, books, films, and more. That is, until Davis started speaking in online interviews and other media, terming the murder as a form of revenge following a fight between Shakur and Suge Knight, who had beaten his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, at the MGM Grand casino.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Binu Palal said that Davis “went hunting” for the two after obtaining a gun. Although he conceded that Davis’ versions of what transpired that evening had changed over time, he maintained that Davis had changed his tale to shield himself from potential legal action. One crucial aspect of Davis’ account, nevertheless, remained constant: he was in a white Cadillac when a gunman opened fire on a BMW transporting Knight and Shakur, hitting Shakur four times.

Davis’ attorney argued during closing arguments that the prosecution had no surveillance footage, phone records or other physical evidence placing Davis at the scene of the crime.

The prosecution’s rebuttals, which included evidence of an alleged scrapbook belonging to Davis that contained various clippings of articles about Shakur’s murder and the rivalry between the South Side Compton Crips and Mob Piru, which included members of both Death Row Records and Bad Boy Records on opposing sides, were also rejected by the jury.

The Game Loses Appeal In Sexual Assault Case

The Game might have had the world buzzing with his latest album that just released recently, but he’s certainly about to suffer the consequences of his actions. The rapper has just lost his appeal in court that pertains to a sexual assault case and will take a substantial financial hit in its wake.

The case dates back to 2015, when survivor Priscilla Rainey won the legal battle after having sued the rapper, who was found liable for sexual battery. The incident occurred during the filming process for VH1’s She’s Got Game, where Rainey suffered abuse and won the case.

As part of the consequences that followed, she was awarded USD 1.3 Million in compensatory damages on top of USD 6 Million in punitive damages. In total, Rainey is owed USD 7.3 Million but hasn’t been able to receive it in its entirety for about a decade. As of her second lawsuit in 2021, the rapper still had to pay her USD 6.8 Million.

The Game’s latest attempt to deny it has been thwarted now, after a California appeals court rejected The Game’s claim that Rainey “did not mail the court’s order for publication to his known address,” also stating that there were other errors in the summons. However, the court found the summons to be compliant with state law and that there was no necessity to “mail the order for publication.”

AZ Chike & Tyler, The Creator Release New Music Video ‘Look Like My Mama’: Watch

AZ Chike found himself in a unique position with the GNX opportunity courtesy of Kendrick Lamar, and he ran with it like nobody else.

Perhaps one of the most consistent young artists featured on that project, AZ Chike has made his name outside of the conversation that had the buzz going.

The latest example of him carrying that momentum forward is this new music video he just released with Tyler, The Creator. The song is called ‘Look Like My Mama’ and showcases the two artists in a school setting before the scene transforms into scenes that seem reminiscent of Men In Black and Sinners among other ones.

Check out the video to see what you spot in there!
